Powerline Inspection

The demand for Airborne Powerline inspection is
increasing for every year.

Due to aging transmission lines (already operating
at high capacity), and the difficulties involved in building
new ones, the utilities are trying to meet increasing
customer demands by operating the existing lines at
maximum efficiency.

The requirement to provide reliable and safe power,
forces the utilities to improve their inspection frequency.

Swesystem offer a wide variety of solutions for Powerline inspection.

Hot Spots
Radiometric Thermal systems are used to detect and classify thermal anomalies on the Powerlines.
When standard infrared cameras offer the possibility to detect an ”Hot Spot”,
the radiometric system from Swesystem also offer real time temperature measurement,
in order to classify the fault.

Corona Discharges
A solar blind Bi Spectral UV camera is used to detect and classify Corona discharges
from broken insulators or loose strands.
